The sound of a door falling in its lock
Sounding hollow but loud in the empty room
One foot in the car
One final look
Sitting down with a heavy heart turning the key
Drifting in memories
Hearing the tires push the city away
Refusing to look into the mirror
Knowing the sight of the city-lights will break your heart
You know it is better this way
But no matter how often you tell yourself
Your heart still doesn’t agree
It should be a fresh start
But it feels like a painful end
You tell yourself the city will miss you
But the truth is the other way around
You are not running
You’re starting again
A new life
A new place
A better life far away
But a part of me wishes I could stay
